ABOUT THIS SITE

I started making corsets a few years ago, and since then I've had many people express an interest in them. Quite a few of them said they would be interested in making their own if they had any idea of how to go about it, but there doesn't seem to be much clear and thorough information available .

So, I've tried to explain every step of the process, in detail, trying not to make assumptions that any part of it was 'obvious' - a frustrating problem I encountered when making my first corset using a purchased pattern.

There are a variety of ways that the process can be done, both for traditional and non-traditional methods. I have not included all of the ones I have used (and I'm sure there are more I haven't figured out yet), but once you understand these methods you can improvise your own.

I had little experience sewing anything before I started making corsets. Aside from a couple of tidbits from the few and far between people I've talked to with extensive experience at corsetry, I've figured all of this out as I've gone along. I make no claims of being an expert, but I get quite a few inquiries about where I bought the corsets I've made. I've no doubt there will be other, better ways of doing some of this. If you know any better techniqes, if you found any of the instructions unclear, or you have any comments at all, PLEASE write me!
