LACING TECHNIQUE

The most basic way to lace a corset is to begin with one long lace. I tie a knot in the very center of the lace. Then, pull the lace through the top of the corset and lace down. Lace it like a shoe, going down through one hole, then down through the top on the oposite side, as in the photo above.

In the center of the corset you want to bring the lace up, then down through the next hole down on the same side before continuing to lace down. You will use these loops to tighten and tie the corset when you put it on.

When you have laced down to the bottom, tie the ends.

You may also lace it in a spiral pattern, by bringing the lace down on one side, then up on the other all the way down, as in the second photo.

You may also lace the corset in a similar fashion using two shorter laces. Simply lace from the top with one lace, and from the bottom with the other. The ends of the laces will come out in the center back of the corset instead of the loops in the one-lace method.

For better control with very tight lacing you may vary the two lace method by using three (or more) laces instead. Lace the top third of the corset with one lace, the bottom third with one lace, and the middle third with another lace, with loops in the center of the middle lace.
