Tips & Tricks

      • Stitch Witchery fusible interfacing makes handling the fabric SO much easier! Fuse fashion and backing fabric together before cutting, or if using the alternate construction method, use to fuse fashion fabric/backing layer/lining layer together all at once! It not only stabilizes fabric to prevent stretching or fraying, but keeps fabric from shifting during cutting for a more precise pattern. Keeps layers together during sewing without pins. I can't say enough about how much easier it makes things, or how silly I feel for not thinking of it sooner!
      • Rigilene can be sewn into the boning channels with the greatest curves (usually side seams), which will keep fabric smooth. You may also use it by outside steel at lacing panel, or center front panel seams. You MUST still use steel boning behind it!
      • Busks To reinforce busk and keep front straight, add another strip of 1/2" boning behind each side of busk.
      • Alternate closure Use D-ring boot laces for a decorative closure on double-laced corsets.

      • Already have a corset that you like the fit of, and want to make another like it? Put it on inside out, and use the tape method to make a pattern from it!
